Orissa U-22 team sufferes innings defeat against Bengal

Bengal beat Orissa by an innings and four runs on the fourth and last day of their C K Nayudu Trophy (U-22) Elite Group-C match at Ravenshaw University Ground, Cuttack today. Needing 217 runs to escape innings defeat, the home side were all out for 212 shortly before the tea break. The victory fetched Bengal six points, while Orissa drew blank.

Resuming their second innings at the overnight score of 78 for one and needing another 139 runs to make Bengal bat again, Orissa lost wickets at regular interval to suffer the defeat. Especially, the fall of three wickets in the 84th over cost the home side dear. Veer Pratap Singh, who claimed these three wickets, proved to be the most successful Bengal bowler with figures of four for 48. Joydeep Basu (154) and Subit Chatterjee (133) starred in the Bengal win, scoring a century each.
